I’ve baked bread many times myself and tried quite a few recipes over the years.
For me, homemade bread is almost always more delicious than store-bought.. there’s just something about it. But cost-wise, at least here in Greece, it’s unfortunately not cheaper. Electricity prices have skyrocketed, and running the oven for one single loaf can be quite expensive.
I’ve learned to bake strategically, using the oven for several things in a row so no heat goes to waste. The last time I made bread, it went in right after a pie came out. I turned the oven off and let the remaining heat finish the loaf. Very “economical Mediterranean mode” activated..
That said, your effort is admirable, and honestly, Matt giving it a 9/10? That’s elite partner behavior right there.. :)
Most things home made and home grown tend to be more delicious 😋
Actually, now that you mention it - electricity wasn’t even considered when I did the calculations - you have an extremely good point.
Electricity prices here in Australia are stupidly expensive too. Thankfully we have solar panels which literally cuts the bill in half BUT in saying that, the prices have doubled over the past 5 years.
That’s so smart to use your oven so strategically to batch cook your bread and pies at the same time. Genius. ☺️
Matt and I definitely switched roles this time around 😂 normally he is a super picky eater and I like everything but in this case everything was the opposite! 🤪
That's really cool! I've baked a few things like protein brownies but never bread. I've heard horror stories about our store bread and our poo poo QLD water haha
